Lorena “Joyce” (Brown) Hermann
February 2, 1925 ~ June 26, 2021

Funeral service for Lorena “Joyce” Hermann will be Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church Offerle, Kansas with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Viewing will be Monday and Tuesday, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home, Enid.

Lorena Joyce was born February 2, 1925 in Atchison, KS to William and Lena (Hodson) Brown, and passed away on Saturday June 26, 2021, in Enid.

Joyce graduated from Atchison High School, the College of Emporia, and The University of Oklahoma with a Master of Music Education with Organ Recital in lieu of a thesis. She taught at Jefferson Elementary School in Ponca City, OK, from 1947 to 1949 and was organist at the Presbyterian Church. She taught in Guthrie, OK, from 1950 to 1953 at Fogarty Jr. High and Guthrie High School, and was choir director at the First Christian Church in Guthrie.

Joyce married William Herrmann, May 31, 1953. They lived on the family farm near Offerle, KS. They were married 50 years before his death in 2004. She is a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Offerle, KS, where she taught others, played herself and scheduled the organists for many years. She was a major part of the music ministry in every way while there. She taught organ at St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, KS, for 24 years as well as giving private lessons to organists from many Churches in Western Kansas area before retiring.

Her children are Darrell and wife Kristen (Ransom) Herrmann, Columbus, OH, Charles Herrmann and wife Darla Schmitt, Cincinnati, OH, and Martha and husband Randy Gabriel of Hennessey, OK. She has five grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

She had lived at THE COMMONS United Methodist Retirement Center in Enid, OK since July of 2009.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Zion Lutheran Church, Offerle, Kansas through Anderson-Burris.
