Thomas Edwin Henthorn was born to Billy Gene and Dorothy Maidment Henthorn on February 22, 1956, in Enid, OK, and passed away on February 8, 2022, in Mountain View, CA.
Tom grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School. He was an active member of Central Christian Church and an Eagle Scout. He attended Oklahoma State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Science. He earned his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
On May 30, 1981, Tom married Yolanda Rose Gomez of Los Angeles. They soon made their home in Mountain View, CA. He worked in the aerospace industry for forty years with Ford Aerospace, Space Systems Loral SSL, and Maxar Technologies.
Tom started building a T-18, two-seater airplane beginning in his early college years and progressed with that project throughout his life. He was currently taking a refresher course in flying to keep his pilot's license active, in preparation to fly when his airplane was complete. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). Building his airplane was his passion along with bike riding and loving the role of father and grandfather.
Tom is survived by his wife Yolanda; children Kristine Lowe, Matthew and wife Lana, and William, all of California, Danielle Genevro and husband Robert, of Rochester, NY; grandchildren Penelope and Desmond Henthorn, and George Genevro; and sister, Donna Henthorn Albright and husband Troy, of Durango, CO. Tom was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on 2022-02-22 at Lima & Compagna Sunnyvale Mortuary, 1315 Hollenbeck Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA, USA.
A burial will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on 2022-02-22 at Oak Hill Cemetery, 300 Curtner Avenue, San Jose, CA, USA.
