The memorial service for Marietta Davis Henson will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at Central Christian Church. The Rev. Don Johnson will officiate. Arrangements are under direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Marietta was born Aug. 9, 1929, to Perry and Goldie (Mosher) Davis in Enid and passed away Jan. 9, 2015. She attended McKinley Elementary, Emerson Junior High and Enid High School. After graduating high school, she attended Oklahoma A&M College, where she was president of Alpha Chi Omega sorority.
While attending college, she married her high-school sweetheart, H. Harold Henson Aug. 27, 1950.
Following graduation, the couple moved to Amarillo, Texas, while Harold served in the United States Air Force. After his discharge, they moved back to Enid, making it their home.
Marietta's ambition in life was to be a good daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Marietta and Harold shared many fun weekends with their three children water and snow skiing. Marietta enjoyed playing golf, tennis, traveling and dancing with Harold. She was past president of Junior Welfare League, past president of PEO, past president of Oakwood Women's Golf Association and a member of Central Christian Church Sooner Sunday School Class.
Marietta loved life and playing bridge with her many long-time friends. She was a dedicated wife and mother and was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved each one with all of her heart.
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Lynne Weksler and husband Dr. Luis Weksler of Tulsa; son, Steve Henson and wife Barbie of Enid: son, Brian Henson, also of Enid; grandchildren, Johnny Imhoff, Alexa Weksler, Katie Henson, Walker Henson, Gabrielle Henson, Haskell Henson and Hawkins Henson; one brother, Ray Davis; and her companion for many years, Bob Rogers.
Marietta was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Harold, nephew Kevin Davis and niece Vickie Davis.
Memorials may be made to YMCA or Central Christian Church of Enid, with Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home acting as custodian of funds.
