James Gleason Hensley

James Gleason Hensley
December 25, 1945 ~ May 3, 2020

James Gleason Hensley, age 74 of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on May 3, 2020 in Guthrie. James was born on December 25, 1945 in Hattiesburgh, Mississippi to G.W. and Josephine (Farmer) Hensley.

James graduated from Alvin High School in Alvin, Texas in 1964. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam.

On February 15, 1975 James married Brenda Black in Oklahoma City. Of this union one child was born, J. Hensley.

James moved to Guthrie in 1976 from Houston, Texas and opened White's Jewelry in downtown Guthrie where he had worked for the last 44 years. In his spare time James loved golfing, fishing, reading, doing crossword puzzles, working in his yard, and he enjoyed music.

Survivors include his wife Brenda of the home, son J Hensley and wife Haley of Guthrie, sister Janet Smith of Houston, Texas and her partner Mark O'Conner, sister Teresa Collier of New Braunfels, Texas, sister-in-law Sandra Black and partner Paul Hollas, and numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents G.W. and Josephine Hensley and sister Kathy Goodridge.

James was expecting his first grandchild, Kenna Josephine Hensley in May and was so excited to meet his granddaughter.

A private family memorial service will be held. Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
