Viola Maxine (Thomas) Henshall
August 2, 1926 ~ June 19, 2017

Viola Maxine Henshall, age 90 and longtime Bartlesville resident, went to be with her Lord on Monday, June 19, 2017, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Maxine Thomas was born on August 2, 1926, in Ramona, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of William Ray Thomas and Jessie Fern (Cox) Thomas.

She was raised in Ramona until the age of seven when the family moved to the Oglesby area. For most of her life she remained in the Bartlesville area. She attended Ramona Elementary, Tyner Elementary and graduated from eighth grade in 1940. She attended Junior and Senior High School in Ramona, later receiving her GED. She furthered her education by attending Draughon School of Business in 1977.

Maxine enjoyed many different careers. She was employed with H&R Block in Tulsa as a tax consultant. She also worked for Dr. Zulkey in Tulsa as a receptionist and was a nurse aide for Charley and Helen Edwards. She later enjoyed employment with the Pink Panda Water Bed Company. She was then a self-employed tax consultant for many years. Maxine was a proud member of Happy Hill Church in Ramona. She was of Cherokee Indian descent, a fact of which she was also very proud. She enjoyed many things in life, such as reading, crocheting and fishing, but most of all, she enjoyed her family.

Survivors include, son, Ray Moland, of Bartlesville; daughters, Jo Anne Bennett of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Marsha Cates (Don), of Bartlesville; Janeen McGuire of Bartlesville; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Ray Thomas and Clifford Zeldon Thomas and sister, Ruby Louise Sears.

Remembrances may be made in Maxine's memory to the Happy Hill Church, 399758 W. 3100 Rd, Ramona, OK 74061.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 am-8:00 pm in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey, Bartlesville. Family will be present to receive friends from 6-8:00 pm.

A service in celebration of Maxine's life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the Happy Hill Church, Ramona. Rev. Jack Richie and Rev. Charles Richie will be the officiants.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore and Neekamp Funeral Home.
