Ruth was born on January 3, 1927, the ninth of ten children born to Isaac and Irene Chastain in Tulsa, OK. She passed away December 21, 2005 in Bakersfield, CA.
Ruth was content to be a housewife and mother. She was always involved with her children, whether it be room mother at school or helping with Girl Scouts.
She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and was active with her daughters in Rainbow for Girls. When her girls flew the nest, she joined the local Sweet Adelines chorus. She performed with the chorus for many years until her health made it impossible for her continue. But her love for the Sweet Adelines and barbershop music continued, and she became their biggest fan, rarely if ever missing a performance.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and 8 siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 57 years, Laurence Henry, daughter Sarah and husband Jeff Tierce, daughter Laura Henry, and grandchildren Jennifer and Emily Tierce and Treyton Cox, brother Paul Chastain and wife Evelyn, best and dearest friend Margo Jones, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose generosity, kindness and positive attitude during her many illnesses were admired by all who knew her.
We love and miss her, but look forward to the day when we will all be together in Gods Eternal Love.
