Leland “Keith” Henley
May 1. 1946 ~ February 18, 2022

Leland “Keith” Henley, passed away on February 18, 2022 in Stroud, Oklahoma, at the age of 75.

Keith was born on May 1, 1946, in Marshall, Arkansas, to Floyd William and Ivene (Lay) Henley. He was raised in Wynona, Oklahoma, graduating from Wynona High School in 1964. After graduating from high school, Keith continued his education at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Keith also served our country in the United States Air Force for 7 years. He was a decorated Vietnam War veteran.

On June 18, 1977, Keith married Candace Johnson in Eureka, Montana. Together they had 2 children, and 6 grandchildren. While in Montana, he worked as a lumberjack for the Montana Forest Service. While with the Forest Service he did surveying of uncharted land and was proud to be the only person to have stepped foot there, a true outdoorsman. Keith was proud of his heritage as a member of the Cherokee Nation – Lost tribes.

Keith pastored 7 churches over 45 years. At the time of his passing, he was the pastor at Chandler Southern Baptist Church. He pastored at Chandler Southern Baptist for 16 years, where he also served on the praise and worship team. He played the guitar enjoying everything from gospel music to Lynyrd Skynyrd. He also ministered as a drug abuse educator for S.A.N.E. for over 40 years at Falls Creek, schools and numerous other churches around the state of Oklahoma.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ivene Henley.

Those left to cherish his memory are, his wife of 43 years, Candace Henley; a son, David Henley and his wife, Ashley; his daughter, Katelyn Nugent and her husband, Kyle; 6 grandchildren, Kyler Henley, Rye Henley, Elyssa Henley, Jasper Nugent, Ireland Nugent, and Jericho Nugent; his sister, Dean Henley; a brother David Henley and his wife, Jeanne; as well as a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
