William "Bruce" Hendrickson 75, Coach/Teacher, died Jan. 17.

William Bruce Hendrickson, son of Roy Lee and Jessie Mae (Caldwell) Hendrickson was born August 4, 1944 at Claremore, Oklahoma. He departed this life following a sudden illness at Wynnewood, Oklahoma on Friday January 17, 2020. Bruce was 75 years of age. He was raised and educated in Claremore, graduating high school in 1962. Bruce was united in marriage to Charlotte (Moore) on February 28, 1966 in Miami, Oklahoma. Bruce furthered his education attending Northeastern State College in Tahlequah graduating in 1968. He also earned a degree at Southwestern in Weatherford, Oklahoma. His first teaching position was in Claremore, then became the assistance football coach at Fairfax School. Bruce’s first head coach position was at Commerce, Oklahoma. He then moved to Texhoma, Oklahoma where he won his first state championship in 1971. Bruce moved his family to Okeene, Oklahoma where they spent the next twelve years, winning his second state championship in 1981. Then the family moved to Seiling, Oklahoma in 1984 where Bruce led the Seiling Wildcats to his third state championship in 1988. In 1998, he moved his family to Wynnewood, Oklahoma where he spent the next two years and retired from teaching there. The following year, Bruce moved Wewoka, Oklahoma where he only coached football. Then Bruce moved to Cordell for the next six years, during his tenure there he earned his 323rd win. In 2013, Bruce retired completely returning to Seiling, where they have continued to make their home. Over the coarse of his career he achieved 363 victories. Bruce maintained his home in Wynnewood, where he continued his hobby of gaming. Until recently, he held the title of the winningest football coach in the state of Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bruce is survived by his wife Charlotte of the home in Seiling; four daughters Jackie of Seiling, Tracy of Hooker, Jeri Dale of Seiling, Chelse Hollis and her husband Jeff of Spokane, WA; one granddaughter Ryleigh Hendrickson of Hooker; two sisters Virginia Jennings and husband Steve of Pryor, OK, Terri Sue Calderwood of Norman, as well as numerous friends and other relatives.
Memorial Donations in Bruce's honor may be made to the Area Medical Foundation, Brumfield Cemetery, Seiling-Chester Senior Citizen Center, Seiling Fire, or Seiling Ambulance in care of Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663).
