Claude Riley Hendricks Sr.

Oct. 5, 1915 ~ Jan. 13, 2007

Claude Riley Hendricks Sr. was born on October 5, 1915, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma to Steven Riley and Ella Bates Hendricks, the third of three sons.

Dad was raised in and around Bristow, Oklahoma and moved to Delano, California in 1936 at the urging of his brother, Leo. It was there that he met his wife, Vera James. They were married on October 6, 1941 and celebrated their 64th anniversary shortly before her death in 2004.

Dad accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 16. He served Christ faithfully for 75 years and Christ rewarded his faithfulness by taking him home quickly and quietly during the wee hours of January 13, 2007.

His wife, both parents and his two brothers preceded him in death.

Left to savor the memories of his service to his Lord and Savior are his daughter, Sarah Heinrichs and her husband, Doug of Bakersfield; and his son, Claude Riley Hendricks Jr. and his wife, Murrell of Albany, Oregon. Also delighting in many fond memories are his four grandchildren, their spouses and 10 great-grandchildren and one niece. In addition to his family, his good friend Woodrow "Woody" Truitt will relish their many great times together.

Visitation will be held on January 19th, from 3-6 p.m., at Kern River Family Mortuary.

Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery on January 20th, at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the North Heights Baptist Church, 3960 N. Chester Ave., at 11:30 a.m.
