Upton Bruce Henderson, Ph.D., age 89 of Guthrie, Oklahoma went to be with his Heavenly Father on March 14, 2021. Upton was born on March 26, 1931 in Indio, California to Bruce and Rose (Sundholm) Henderson.

Upton was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He retired from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2000 where he was a professor of economics.

Upton and his wife, Mary Ann moved to Guthrie 36 years ago from Edmond. Living in the country was always a dream of theirs and they loved their home and land. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was very passionate about the environment.

Survivors include his wife Mary Ann of the home, daughter Holly Dobson of Guthrie, son Bruce Henderson of Guthrie, daughter Ivy Rose Rauscher and husband Arthur of Jupiter, Florida, sister Shirley Bergman and husband Wesley of Washington state, grandchildren Heather and Hedges Rauscher of New York City, New York, nephew Leland Porter, Jr. of Las Vegas Nevada, nephew Ricky Bergman of Tulsa, nephew Chris Bergman of Washington state, nephew Dennis Bergman of California, and niece Janice Porter of California. Upton was preceded in death by his parents Bruce and Rose Hummel, sister Marjorie Porter, and brother-in-law Leland Porter.

Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. James Wickersham officiating.

Services are under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
