Roy D. Henderson
May 29, 1937 ~ April 5, 2021

Celebration of life for Roy D. Henderson, 83, of Marietta will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 23 at the All Faith Christian Church, Marietta with Pastor Jerry Turner officiating and Lawrence Anderson assisting.

Born May 29, 1937 in the Shady Dale area, the son of Waite Avel and Leta Myrtle Powell Henderson, he died Monday, April 5, 2021.

Roy was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Marietta High School with the Class of 1957. He was the youngest of a family of 11. Roy was a Vietnam Veteran with the United States Army. He worked on many ranches in Texas and Oklahoma, operated a dozer, worked for Ardmore Drilling Company. Chemical Pump and Supply, and owned a welding shop. Roy married the love of his life Beverly Hilton on Jun 18, 1977 in Marietta. This year they would have celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary. In 2015, Roy began cutting cedar trees to build a log cabin. It took him a year to have enough cedar to build his and Beverly's dream home. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Roy had a love for his family, his country, and his many coffee drinking buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.

Survivors include his loving wife, Beverly Henderson; four children from a previous marriage, Leta Walker, Roy Henderson, Dyanne Rutledge and spouse Gary, and Debora Auten; grandchildren, Shawn Walker, Terry and Tara Henderson, Jimmy and Sheena Letterman, and Nick Auten; great-grandchildren, Saxton, Sayler, Olivia, Evan, Trinity, Ryder, and Raidan; brothers-in-law, Jack Vanderventer, Ronnie Hilton, Johnny Hilton and spouse Brenda, and Charlie Hilton and spouse Donna; sister-in-law, Linda Wimpee; special friends he considered family, along with many others, Joe Pete Martin, Larry Martin, and Benny Lawson; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs, Reba and Deedee.

The family offers a special thanks to Pat and the staff of Mercy Health Love County Clinic and Elara Care for their excellent care.
