Melissa Henderson, 35 year old former Woodward resident, died Sunday, January 12, 2014 in Oklahoma City. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Living Word Fellowship Church with Pastor Eric Cox officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Melissa Lynette Henderson was born on March 16, 1978 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Curtis Lynn Henderson and Barbara Louise Rogers. Melissa was reared in Woodward and attended Woodward Public Schools. She graduated from Woodward High School with the class of 1997. She was united in marriage to Michael Thomas. To this union one son was born, Joshua. Melissa worked for McKay Ford in the customer service department.

Melissa was married to Michael Hammans and to this union one son was born, Preston “Stone”. Melissa was a stay at home mom while her boys were young. She moved to Newalla in 2011.

Melissa loved her family and friends and cherished her time spent with them. She had a smile that would light up a room and enjoyed making her family and friends laugh.

She is survived by her two sons, Joshua Thomas of Woodward; Preston “Stone” Hammans of Gladewater, Texas; parents, Barbara and Mark Miller of Gladewater, Texas; Curtis and Maria Henderson of Anaheim, California; John Reed of Woodward; brother, Curtis Henderson of Gladewater, Texas; sister, Crystal Burton and husband Brian of Woodward; brother, Jason Reed and fianc� Destiny Hazelbaker of Woodward; sister, Danielle Henderson of Los Angeles, California; brother, Geoffery Henderson and wife Jeanette of Cannon Lake, California; brother, Michael Henderson of Anaheim, California; grandmother, Delores Stafford of Shattuck; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by one grandmother and both grandfathers.
