Carl Alton Henderson, 86, died on Monday, May 27, 2013 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. His memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 31st at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Michael Chaffin officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

On March 8, 1927, Carl was born to Samuel Jackson and Stella Elizabeth (Copeland) Henderson in Henryetta, Oklahoma. He graduated from Henryetta High School before going on to attend Oklahoma State University in Okmulgee, and later the University of Wisconsin. He worked in the retail banking and real estate industry. Carl married the love of his life, Nila C. Thompson, on June 7, 1952 in Cushing, Oklahoma. Together they raised three children, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. He was a member of several organizations including the Lions Club, Housing Authority Board of Directors, Boy Scouts, 32nd Degree Mason, and was a member of the Scottish Rite. He was an avid Cowboy fan, and enjoyed attending all of OSU's sporting events. Carl liked to spend his free time playing golf, woodworking, doing yard work and gardening. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church, and sang in the choir for many years. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers-in-law. 

Carl is survived by his wife, Nila Henderson, of Stillwater; children, Amy Henderson, Craig Henderson and his wife Karen, and Brian Henderson, all of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Karalyn and Caden Henderson; three sisters, Shelma Shaw of Norman, and Ramona Sills and Patricia Henderson of Fayetteville, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. 

Memorial contributions may be made in Carl's name to the First United Methodist Church Choir at 400 W. 7th Ave., Stillwater, OK 74074; or the American Heart Association at P.O. Box 841125, Dallas, TX 75284.
