Melody Lynn (McFarlin) Hendershot

February 15, 1947 ~ April 9, 2010

Melody Lynn Hendershott, 63, of Oklahoma City passed away Friday, April 9, 2010. She was born February 15, 1947 in Ludlow, Massachusetts to Raymond and Jewell McFarlin.

Melody grew up in Riverside, California. It was there she met her love, Gary Hendershott. Melody and Gary married on July 21, 1965. Gary's service in the U.S. Navy led the Hendershott's to various places before deciding to move to and settle in Oklahoma to raise a family. While raising three rowdy boys Melody, the natural caregiver, managed to obtain a degree and become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She held many positions through her nursing career, her last being with the Oklahoma County Jail. Melody had a love for animals (especially her dog Rascal), making arts and crafts and anything Mickey Mouse. Most importantly she loved her family and had a desire to maintain close-knit relationships with every one of them.

Melody was preceded in death by her parents and sister Holly.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Gary; sons: Richard, Edward and his wife Tia; and Chris and his wife Shelby; 6 grandchildren: Kaleb, Brooklyn, Noah, Bailey, Tatum and Drew and Melody's life-long friend, Bobbie.
