Phillip Raymond Hein

November 14, 1933 ~ September 10, 2007

Phil Hein, 73, of Jones went to be with his Savior Sep. 10, 2007 after battling cancer. He was born Nov. 14, 1933 in Milford, WI to Clara and Ben Hein.

After serving 4 years in the U.S. Navy, he received BA and MA degrees from the University of OK. He spent 29 years teaching, coaching and counseling and finally retiring from Rose State College as Director of Veterans' Affairs in 1990.

Phil enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, softball, bowling, biking, and swimming. The latter he did to raise money for AHA's Swim for Heart. Phil was an active member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Kiwanis and local politics. Being of a gregarious nature, Phil never met a stranger and always had a hand to lend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, 1 sister, and 2 grandchildren.

Phil is survived by his wife of 54 years, Leonah, daughters; Linda Smith of Irving, TX, and Leslie & David Weiss of Midwest City, OK and sons; Matt Hein of Sterling, VA and Ben & Tracy Hein of Jones, OK, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, 8 sisters, a multitude of nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sat., Sep. 22, 3:00pm. at Soldier Creek Baptist Church, 9020 S.E. 15th St., Midwest City. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to FCA or Kiwanis.
