Charles William Hebard was born August 7, 1938 in Dewey County to David B. Hebard, a teacher, and Lola C. Hebard, a housewife. He was the second of six children — Nelva, Charles, Marilyn K., Barbara Jean, Bruce and Robert. Marilyn K. died of pneumonia at the age of six month
Chuck graduated from Taloga High School in 1958 and immediately left for wheat harvest after graduation. Upon his return, he enrolled at Bethany Nazarene College where he attended for one year.
After college Chuck moved to Texas, where he worked for the atomic energy commission Pantex. In the Texas panhandle, Chuck’s work with the Panhandle Jaycees at the Cal Farley Boys Ranch and Girls Town left an impact on his life. He had a passion for helping others find a place to call home.
Chuck was married to Mary Ware Goram in 1959 and became a father when his first daughter Kaye was born a year later. The journey continued with his second daughter Marysa Gaye was born in 1964, the year Chuck returned to his home state and worked for Continental Carlisle, a plastics manufacturer.
In 1982, Chuck married his wife Jean, and together the couple built their company Hebard Properties. He had a knack for marketing, advertising, and networking with people. Chuck enjoyed spending time with family, friends and acquaintances and helped countless people find their first homes. Later he worked with investors to manage properties across the OKC metro.
Chuck loved to travel, enjoying memorable cruises and visits to Europe, Canada, and Mexico, as well as continental U.S. favorites like New Orleans. On vacation, you could often find him on a beach.
We are very thankful for the excellent care by Bobbie, his hospice nurse and Mona, his caregiver.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Lola, sister Marilyn K, and stepson Scott Little. He is survived by his wife, Jean; siblings Nelva and husband Gill Best, Barbara Jean and husband Curtis Richison, Bruce and wife Myoko, and Robert and wife Marianne; children Kaye Hebard Hale and husband Byron, and Marysa Hebard Mincks and husband Lon Mincks; stepson Michael Little; grandchildren Trevor Hale, Tanner Hale, Blayklee Freed and wife Jessica, Tylor Hirschler and Jaykob Hirschler.
Visitation for friends is Wednesday 2 p.m.-8 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave. in Edmond. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 3 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Edmond, 308 NW 164th St. The family respectfully requests you wear a facemask at the funeral service.
