BRECKENRIDGE -- Graveside services for Vernon Ray Heatley, age 63, of Albany will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at the Albany Cemetery with Paige Baize officiating. Burial will be directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mr. Heatley passed away early Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Morehart Mortuary in Albany.
Vernon Heatley was born on July 31, 1940, in Rush Springs, Okla., to parents, Eldon Heatley and Ruth Davis Heatley. Vernon has been in Albany and Shackelford County for the past 36 years. Vernon was a lifelong cowboy by trade and was employed by H.R. Stasney & Sons, Ltd. for the past 15-plus years, most recently serving as a ranch foreman. Vernon also loved his side profession as flea market trader.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Vernon is survived and lovingly remembered by two sisters, Linda and husband, Johnny Hill of Breckenridge and Florence and husband, Phillip Brooks of Gainesville; a niece, Tracy Waite of Little Elm, and five nephews, John Hill and Sam Hill, both of Breckenridge, Doug Brooks and Steve Brooks, both of Gainesville, and Tim Brooks of Ripley, Ohio; along with many friends, acquaintances and co-workers.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at Morehart Mortuary.
