Abraham Lee "Abe" Heatley

Abraham Lee "Abe" Heatley
January 17, 1955 ~ November 2, 2019 (age 64)

Abraham Lee “Abe” Heatley, age 64, lifelong resident of Shawnee, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2019 in Shawnee.

He was born January 17, 1955 to Roy Lee and Juanita (Columbus) Heatley in Shawnee.

Abe worked at Broadway Liquor in Shawnee for many years.

He was a member of Galilee Baptist Church in Shawnee.

In 2015, Abraham professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized on March 8, 2015.

He was a “tough guy” but had a gentle side who would encourage you, cry with you, and talk with you as long as you would allow him. He was a talker! He loved to converse and share stories about “the good old days”. Abraham was a pro at Tomfoolery!

He longed for his children always and would verbally express his love for them often. His grandchildren were his joy and he loved all of them dearly. He was a perfectly imperfect son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather and friend. We love him for that and are so proud of him.

He was an avid OU sports fan, enjoyed coaching YMCA football, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Abe loved to cook for his family and friends. He looked forward to family gatherings. Abe enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, volleyball, hunting, fishing and gazing at the stars. He loved his American Pit Bulls and enjoyed attending and competing in dog shows.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Juanita Heatley; brother, Thomas Heatley; brother-in-law and best friend, Jack Thorpe; and his loyal best friends, his dogs, Cheba and Bama.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Cheryl Masquat of the home; two daughters, Charity Heatley of Tennessee and Dana Masquat of Shawnee, OK; three sons, L.A. Heatley of Shawnee, OK, Jason Heatley of Shawnee, OK and Michael Heatley of FL; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Heatley Beckham and Cheryl Heatley Brown; brothers, Mike and Tracy Heatley, Roy “Rogo” Heatley, Jr., Bill Heatley and Henry and Sherri Heatley; two sisters-in-law, Johnnie Mae Bettelyoun and Matilda Thorpe; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Nelson and Mary Ann McGuire; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2019. Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Galilee Baptist Church in Shawnee with Reverend Anthony P. Rhone officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh. Service will conclude at the Church.
