Funeral arrangements for Donald Holman Hay, 76, of Alex, are pending with Ferguson Funeral Home

Donald Holman Hay was born April 11, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri. He died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at his home in Alex.

Donald Holman Hay

Memorial services for Donald Holman Hay, 76, of Alex, will be held Monday, January 24, 2005, at 2:00 P.M., in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, with Johnny Wray officiating.

Donald Holman Hay was born April 11, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Henry Holman Hay and Isabella Viola Neals Hay. He died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at his home in Alex.

Don came to Cordell, Oklahoma as a young man. He joined the Merchant Marines at age 16. He served during WW II, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm. He retired from the military in 1992. After his military retirement he served as chief engineer on a casino ship out of Kansas City, Missouri. He fully retired in February of 2000. Don married Lucille Brasseaux on July 19, 1969, in Del City, Oklahoma. They were married for 35 years.

Don was preceded in death by both parents and one brother, Robert Hay.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille, of the home; one daughter, Sharon Shoemarker, of Alex, Oklahoma; two granddaughters; Alissa Brummett, of Chickasha, Oklahoma; Heather Shoemaker, of Norfolk, Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Ted Pendergraft, of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one brother, Jerral Hay, of Mannford, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Virginia "Sue" Hay, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
