Mary Ellen Hawkinson passed from this life on November 13, 2023, at the age of 69 in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
Mary was born on August 12, 1954, in Newport News, Virginia the daughter of James Hull and Mary Belle (Bynum) Townsend. Mary grew up and attended school in Belleville, New Jersey where she graduated high school. While Mary was growing up, she attended ballet and modeling classes. In the late 1970's, Mary moved to Jennings, Oklahoma. She later moved to Sand Springs, in 1986 where she raised her two sons Dugan and Brandon. Mary worked at L.E. Rader, Hissom Memorial Center, then later for Tulsa Department of Human Services as a payroll clerk.
Mary always looked forward to the holidays. She always enjoyed spending time and being around her family and friends. Mary liked going to eat at the Hickory House while Red Lobster was her favorite. Mary's grandchildren were her whole world.
Survivors are her two sons Dugan Townsend of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Brandon Haney of Bixby, Oklahoma, significant other Larry Bourland of the home, siblings Lennie Biad, James Townsend, William Townsend, nine grandchildren Tyler, Dominic, Darin, Erik, Violet, Nova, Anakin, Grayson, Val and a host of other relatives and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Townsend, siblings Louise Martino, Morris Arabie, Pearl Viera, Carolyn Townsend.
A Celebration of Life has been planned for 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Western Heights Baptist Church. Chapman-Black Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements.
