Mrs. Betty Joe Hattabaugh passed away at her home in Vacaville on Sept. 2, 2002, following a long illness. Born on May 10, 1929, in Heavener, Oklahoma, she was 73 years old.
Mrs. Hattabaugh was a 38-year resident of Vacaville. She worked for American Home Foods for 30 years as a line worker. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She loved doing things for her family and enjoyed her grandchildren and church. She had a strong faith in life in the Lord, a positive attitude and great sense of humor and she loved people.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ernie; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda Sims, of Vacaville, Bev and Ray Rucci of Long Island, New York, Billie and Anthony Melton of Troy, Alabama; brothers Pete and Jim Underwood of Oklahoma, Jack Underwood of Las Vegas, Nevada and Floyd Hunt of Hawaii; sisters-in-law Teresa Manas and Marry Hattabaugh, both of Winters, Mary Anderson and Lanetta Parsons of Vacaville; brothers-in-law Gene Kizziar of Arkansas and Kenneth Hattabaugh of Texas; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
A visitation was held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at the Nadeau Family Funeral Home in Vacaville. Funeral services are Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 at Trinity Baptist Church, located at the corner of Monte Vista Avenue and Eldridge Streets in Vacaville, with Pastor Milton Steck officiating. Interment will follow at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hattabaugh's name to Kaiser Hospice, 975 Sereno Drive, Vallejo, CA, or to Trinity Baptist Church.
