Joe Ben Hathoot

September 10, 1935 ~ October 6, 1999

Canadian, Texas – The Memorial service for Joe Ben Hathoot, 64, will be 1 PM Saturday at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Pampa, Texas, with Jake Clements officiating. His body was cremated. Arrangements are by Stickley – Hill Funeral Directors in Canadian.

He was born September 10, 1935, in Enid to Edward and Viola Hathoot and died Wednesday, October 6, 1999, in Canadian, Texas.

He was raised in Enid and graduated from Enid high school. He received his degree in animal husbandry from Oklahoma State University in 1957. In the early 1960s he purchased the feed yard in Morton, Texas. He moved to Canadian in 1982 and managed Canadian Feed Yard.

In 1983, he married Janie Matthews. He had been in the cattle business 40 years and was currently co-– owner of Livestock Auction in Hope, Arkansas, McLean Feed Yard in McLean, Texas, and B & H Cattle Company in Canadian.

He was a member of the vestry at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Pampa, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Janie of Canadian; two daughters, Ginny Bailey of Midland, Texas, and Merilee Dougherty of Grapevine, Texas; one son, Joe Edward Hathoot of Texarkana, Texas; two step – sons, Patrick Matthews of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Michael Matthews of Texarkana; his mother, Viola Hathoot of Canadian; one brother, Dale Hathoot of Mission, Texas; three grandson; and two step – granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to St. Mathews Episcopal Church, 727 West Browning St., Pampa, TX 79065.
