Jay Lynn Hatchett
April 8, 1944 ~ July 10, 2021

 Jay Lynn Hatchett (The Old Man), 77, was called home July 10, 2021 in Stillwater, OK. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater.

He was born to J.C. and Helen (Davis) Hatchett April 8th, 1944 in Pierre, South Dakota.

He attended many schools in the Midwest, Wyoming, Montana, Minnesota and the Dakotas. He received his bachelor's degree in Aberdeen, South Dakota and his master's degree at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff AZ. He played football, hockey and wrestling in high school and played college football. He also was a football and wrestling coach. He enjoyed the outdoors with hunting, fishing, camping, scuba diving. His hobbies included flying, woodworking, building houses, and computer programming. He was a member of Search and Rescue for several years in Northern Arizona and the Grand Canyon area. His life's work was teaching. Thirty-four years of industrial arts, math, and computer science in Britton, South Dakota and Tuba City, AZ.

Survivors include his loving wife, Louise (Glasby) Hatchett of the home; son, Jason of Flagstaff, AZ; daughter, Janette Fontana and her husband Joe of Warrenville, IL; grandsons, Jacob, Josh and Jackson Fontana; bother in-law David Hein of New Bern, N.C.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, sister Karon Hein, and niece Brenda Hein.

A Celebration of Jay’s life will be on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 4PM at Fellowship Baptist Church in Yale, Oklahoma.
