“I bowed on my knees and cried ‘Holy! Holy to the Son of God.” In the early morning hours of Friday, June 12, 2026, Bobby Hatcher bowed his knees on earth for the last time and cried ‘Holy’ as he met his Savior face-to-face.
Bobby Lee Hatcher was born on November 18, 1943 to Arvil Lee and Bobbie Ruth (Smith) Hatcher in Crosbyton, Texas.
During his early years, he and Bobbie Ruth lived with her sister and brother-in-law while Arvil was overseas with the US Army in Europe during WWII. Bobby lived in many towns in Texas, New Mexico and California before moving to Oklahoma in 1956. The house in which they lived at the time allowed Bobby to choose to attend one of three high schools; he chose Durant High School because they had a band. While in the Durant High School Band, he met a fellow flute player named Patricia Parker. Bobby graduated from Durant High School in May 1961 and then began attending Southeastern State College (now SOSU).
He worked as a free-lance photographer and pressman for the Durant Daily Democrat and also worked at Green Spray.
Bobby and Patricia were married on June 5, 1964 at Fairview Baptist Church. Their duet became a trio on July 31, 1966 when they welcomed their firstborn, Melany, into their home. It was during the early years of their marriage that Bobby surrendered his life to Christ. On April 27, 1970, the trio became a quartet with the birth of their daughter, Stefani.
Bobby was also a proud veteran, serving in the US Army Oklahoma National Guard from 1966-1972, receiving a commendation for being a sharp-shooter.
Bobby’s love for the Lord and love for music merged as he began to serve in Baptist churches in Bryan and Marshall counties in the capacity of music director. Bobby traveled all over the world with the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma....sharing his love of music and his love of Jesus with everyone he met. From 1976 until his retirement in 2003,
Bobby also owned and operated Price’s Quality Printing, Inc. After retiring from the printing business, Bobby traveled in his motor home and with the Singing Churchmen and Singing Churchwomen. After Patricia passed away, Bobby was introduced to Kerrie Herring at the registration table at the Singing Churchwomen retreat. They struck up a conversation which grew into a friendship and love and marriage in February 2016. Bobby and Kerrie continued traveling and singing with the Singing Churchmen and Singing Churchwomen until recent years. Bobby was a deacon and an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Durant. Bobby and Kerrie had recently relocated to Vernon, Texas.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Kerrie Hatcher, of their Vernon, TX home; daughter and son-in-love, Melany and Hank Patterson of Durant, OK; daughter and son-in-love, Stefani and Max Jones of De Queen, AR; son and daughter-in-love, Bennett and Myeachia Mathis of Vernon, TX; thirteen grandchildren: Korey Hill, Blake Hill, Chelsea Jones, Jessica (Patterson) Wakefield and husband, Nathan, McKenzie Jones, Emily (Hill) Couch and husband, Rider, Sylvia and Eleanor Patterson, Sullamon (Sully) Patterson, Elijah and Freya Mathis, Caedyn and Ariyah Lewis-Qualls, and Kristine Albin; seven great-grandchildren: Remington Hill, Gracey and Alexander Albin, Clary, Gus, Georgia and Teddy Wakefield; sister, Anna (Hatcher) Canady; niece, Neva Damron and Johnny Brito; nephew, James Canady and wife, Kristie and sons Thomas and Alex; uncle and aunt, Owen and Esther Hatcher; sister-in-love, Erin Vail; and numerous other family and special friends.
Preceding Bobby in death were his parents, Arvil and Bobbie Ruth Hatcher; brother, Jimmy Hatcher; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Virgil and Ruby Jo Parker; wife of 51 years, Patricia Hatcher; and grandson, Zachary Albin.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026 at the Potter Family Life Center at Calvary Baptist Church. A Celebration to honor Bobby’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 26, at Calvary Baptist Church, Durant, with Bro. Darel Bunch and Bro. Brett Cook officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Gideons International. Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, Durant, OK.
