Doris Hastings, age 79 of Rosedale, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020.
Doris Carol Matthesen was born November 13, 1941 in Oklahoma City, OK, the oldest of 6 children born to C.A. and Ilene Matthesen. She was raised in Moore and attended school there, graduating with the Lion’s Class of 1959.
Doris married young to Richard Paul Hastings, and they made their home in Washington where they raised five children, daughters, Paula, Sallie Jane and Beth and sons, Dick and Loren. Doris worked for many years at the Savor-Rich Dairy Farm in Moore and later as an accounting clerk for Consolidated Builders Supply in Okla. City.
After retiring, Doris settled in Rosedale to enjoy a simpler way of life. She enjoyed traveling when she could, and tending to her flowers in her garden. She cherished her family and was never happier than the day she became a grandmother and eventually a great grandmother. She loved a good laugh and kept everybody guessing, and just enjoyed spending time with her family and her friends. She loved Braums, and enjoyed quick trips for her favorite milk shake. She was a wonderful and fun-loving mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: her daughter, Paula Hastings and her parents, C.A. and Ilene Matthesen.
Doris is survived by: her daughters, Sallie Jane Carpenter and husband Eddie of Noble and Beth Boles and husband Brent of Rosedale; her boys, Dick Hastings and wife Karon and Loren Hastings and wife Beth, all of Washington; siblings, Larry Matthesen and wife Sharon of Lawton, Virginia Chrisman and Steve of OKC, Kay Matthesen of Plano, TX, George Matthesen and wife Belinda of Moore and Gale Earles and husband Mike of Rosedale; 7 grandchildren, Blaike Herrin and husband Grant of Washington, Bailey Boles of Rosedale, Cambry Hastings of Norman, Tate Carpenter of Norman, Cade Hastings of Norman, Waylon Hastings of Washington and Mason Hastings of Washington; 1 great granddaughter, Brinlee Boles-Perigo; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.
