Gladys Grayson Hastie was born January 28,1911 in Titus County, Texas. She was the oldest of eight children of R. R. and Hattie Grayson. She passed away November 30, 2008 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 97 years, 10 months and 2 days.
Gladys moved with her family to Beckham county in January of 1928. From Beckham county the family moved on the farm near Reydon, Roger Mills county then in 1938 moved on across the line to Allison, Texas in Wheeler county.
On December 24, 1938 she married Doyt Binson of Reydon, Oklahoma. Within a few months the couple loaded all their belongings in a Model A car and joined the migration to California where they resided until her husband entered the Army Air Corps in 1943.
When her husband was discharged from service they resided in Chandler, Arizona until Doyt's death in 1973.
Gladys worked in the Chandler-Mesa area for many years.
In 1983 she married Jim Hastie and upon retirement she and Jim moved to Sayre, Oklahoma in 1993 to be near Gladys' family in their remaining years. Jim passed away in 1997.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Cecil, Ode, Erskin and Lewis Grayson.
She is survived by her stepdaughter, Betty Castenada and husband, Mario of Los Angeles, California; one sister, Margilu Reynolds of Sayre, Oklahoma; two brothers, David Grayson and wife, Margie of Sayre, Oklahoma; and B. J. Grayson and wife Jonell of Sayre, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Rita Grayson of Allison, Texas; and several caring nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Chapel officiated by Jerry McGee and Andy Taylor.
Burial will be at Wheeler, Texas under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service.
