Richard L. Hasley went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 2, 2023. He was born in Tipton, OK to Thurman Hasley and Gertrude Belle Hasley on July 8, 1939. He had two brothers, Kenneth Hasley and Daryle Hasley. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.
The family moved to California in 1943 then returned to Tipton, OK in 1949. Richard was raised by a loving aunt and uncle, Lillian and Luke Boyd. He played football for the Tipton Tigers and while in high school he saw a girl from Frederick named Rita McDonald and fell madly in love at first sight. They were together constantly until her family moved to New Mexico. He lost her then but found her again years later and they were married and inseparable for their entire marriage. They were married for 39 years.
Richard graduated from Tipton High School in 1958 and then attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK on a football scholarship earning a Bachelor of Physical Education and History Degree in 1964. He earned his Juris Doctorate Law Degree from Oklahoma City University in 1968. Richard put himself through law school by teaching Drivers Ed at Putnam City Central by day and law school in the evenings. He was an active attorney in Oklahoma City for 50 years. He franchised, built and operated approximately 40 Mazzio’s Pizza Restaurants in Oklahoma and Texas over a 27-year period.
Richard had two children from a previous marriage, Shelley Corr and Richard Kyle Hasley.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and love of his life, which he told her every day, Rita Hasley; his son, Kyle Hasley and daughter-in-law, Stacy Hasley; grandchildren, Dustin Hasley and Jordan Hasley; daughter, Shelley Corr, son-in-law, John Corr and their children, Jamie, Amanda and Mackenzie; two step-sons he loved as his own, Chris Dean Holleyman and Mark Alan Holleyman; sister-in-law, Jeanna Hasley and two nephews, Brad Hasley and Phillip Hasley. He also leaves numerous wonderful lifelong friends from Tipton, Frederick, Southwestern days, law friends and special church family.
One of Richard’s greatest joys was watching Dustin play golf, anywhere, anytime and then talking about it to any and all that would listen. He adored Jordan with all his heart. He was eager to see his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his friends and family in heaven and planned on waiting on a cloud for Rita.
In lieu of flowers or donations, please do a good deed for someone and think of Richard.
Services to be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Mercer-Adams Funeral Service, 3925 N. Asbury Ave., Bethany, OK.
