KREMLIN - Memorial service for Martha Frances Harvey, 69-year-old Kremlin resident, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Kremlin Community United Methodist Church. The Rev. Donna Dodson will officiate. Service is under direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.
Martha was born February 5, 1944, in Conway, Arkansas, to Virgil and Chestene (Smallwood) Reynolds and died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, in St, Mary's Regional Hospital Enid, Oklahoma.
She grew up in Greenbrier, Arkansas. She graduated from Guthrie Oklahoma High School with the class of 1962 and then attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma.
In June 1963, she married Kenneth Uhrig. The couple made their home in Oklahoma City, where Martha worked at First National Bank, and started their family. The family moved to Kremlin in 1969.
She worked at Bank of Kremlin and Zaloudek Grain, and she owned Kremlin Tag Agency for more than 33 years, the longest tenure in the state. Martha was recognized for signing up the most organ donors in Oklahoma last year and was recognized with a rose in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA.
On February 2, 1993, she married Reverend James Harvey in Tahlequah, and they made their home in Kremlin.
She was a long-time member of Kremlin Community United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of United Methodist Women. She also was a founding member of Owlfowlfans. She loved her dog, Rosie, was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of the home; son, Steve Uhrig of Oakland, CA; two daughters, Alanna Hart and husband George of Vail, CO, and Toni Uhrig of Oakland, CA; stepson, Justin Harvey of San Marcos, TX; sister, Joann Pritchard of Bridgeport, TX; two grandsons, Pfc. Curtis Hart and Gunner Uhrig; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carrol Reynolds Colerick.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Kids for Christ at Kremlin UMC.
