Services for Fern Marie "Nana Honey" Patterson Hartsell, 82, of Floydada are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at the First United Methodist Church in Floydada, Revs. Les Hall and Ken Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow at the Floydada Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Fern went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, May 6, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 12, 1934 in Floydada to John Felton and Mattie Jewel (Lewis) Patterson. She lived all her life in Floydada and graduated from Floydada High School in 1953.
Fern retired as a comptroller with the Lockney Coop Gin in 1999. Previously she had been employed with Producers Cooperative Elevator and Wylie Distributors.
Fern was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church. She served on the Pastor Parrish Committee, funeral lunch committee, and was a lay delegate to annual conference for several years. Fern was a faithful member of the Monday morning women's bible study. She also assisted in many areas with the church's annual Fall Harvest Bazaar.
Fern was active in many other organizations. She was a member of the Razzle Dazzle Red Hats Society, the 1950 Study Club where she held many offices, Order of the Eastern Star, S.O.S., was treasurer for the Floyd County Friends of the Library, and Living Water Emmaus, serving as a lay director in 2006.
In 1998 Fern underwent a life-saving liver transplant. After that experience, she also volunteered with LifeGift in Lubbock, TX. She was even asked to participate in the annual LifeGift calendar one year and was "Miss April" to coincide with the month of her transplant.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents, sister Nita Patterson, and her brothers Dillon and Pat Patterson.
Fern is survived by two daughters, Holly Glasscock and husband Lanny of Ada, OK, and Hope Warren and husband Don of Floydada; four granddaughters, Joni Johnston and husband Larry of Roff, OK, Jeni Helleland and husband Tanner of Norman, OK, Becky Warren and Mary Warren both of Canyon, TX; one great grandson, Lane Johnston of Roff, OK; a sister, Wren Samuel and husband Warren of Topeka, KS; and several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Jim Patterson, Bryan Patterson, John White, Tanner Helleland, Larry Johnston, and Casey Wheat.
