Herbert "Herbie" W. Hartman, 76 years old of Marietta, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at his home with his family at his side. Herbie's funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy May officiating. A time of visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8 P.M., Monday at the funeral home.
Herbie was born on December 14, 1945, in Leon, Oklahoma to Sam and Burma (Taliaferro) Hartman. He was raised in Leon and graduated from Leon High School. He married the former Mary Sue Self on May 27, 1966, in Gainesville, Texas. They moved to Marietta in 1999.
Herbie had worked in the oilfield after graduating high school and had also worked at Stromberg-Carlson. He later retired from Michelin Tire Company after working for them for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping on the Red River, hunting, golfing, and the family get togethers so he could eat with his children and grandchildren. Herbie loved his yard and the hard work that went with it, and he loved watching sporting events, especially if his grandchildren were playing. Of all of Herbie's hobbies, he loved babysitting his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and any other families in need of childcare.
Survivors include Herbie's wife, Mary Sue Hartman of the home; son, Lance Hartman and wife Kodie of Burneyville, Oklahoma; daughter, Angie Lang and husband Jeff of Marietta; grandchildren, Chelsi and Marshal Harmon of Marietta, Kylie Lang and Asia of Pilot Point, Texas, Cash Lang and Sarah of Marietta, Brinkli Hartman of Marietta, Easton Hartman of Marietta, and Dee Idleman of Burneyville; great grandchildren, Peyton and Knox Harmon, Mehlania Lang, all of Marietta; a sister-ini-law, Marlene Hartman of San Antonio, Texas; a nephew, Philip Hartman of Marietta; and nieces, Glenda May, Tammie Hartman and Michelle Buckhanon, all of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
Preceding Herbie in death are his parents, a granddaughter, Bradi Hartman; and brothers and sisters-in-law, S.O. Hartman, Glenis and Ginger Hartman, Harold and Jerrie Hartman.
Honorary casket bearers will be Lance Hartman, Jeff Lang, Cash Lang, Marshal Harmon, Easton Hartman, Dee Idleman and Knox Harmon.
Services are under the care of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.
