Bartlesville - Verna Josephine "Jody" Hart expired January 5, 2022.
She was born in rural Lincoln Country Kansas, on December 19, 1931, to Frank C. and Bernice U. Brichacek.
The family moved to Sylvan Grove, Kansas in 1936. She attended the local schools from first grade to the 12th, graduating in 1949.
Jody met Robert "Bob" Hart, who had come to Sylvan Grove to manage the local lumber yard. They were married on January 9, 1950. To this union was born five sons and one daughter. After several moves in Kansas, they came to Bartlesville in the fall of 1963, where Bob managed the Barlow Lumber Co., later called Tapjac.
She was a stay-at-home mother. When all the children were in school, she volunteered in the tourist center, the hospital gift shop, and Mary Marth Outreach. Jody served on her local election precinct as judge for over 25 years.
Jody was always proud to say that she came from a Czech background and loved to listen to her polkamusic.
She is survived by her husband Bob, sons Randy (Joan) of Tulsa, Claire (Patty) of Fairview, TX, Bruce (Tammy) of Garland, TX, Brad (Shawna) of Owasso, OK, Curtis (Rola) of Spring, TX, and one daughter Rita Long (Greg) of Dunedin, FL. Eleven grandchildren, Robert, Tyler, Amy, Cally, Halie, Matt, Kendal, Hunter, Hayden, Isabella, and Sophie, 2 great-grandchildren, Adeline and William.
Jody always enjoyed her family, especially when they could all come home for the holidays.
Services will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make all memorial contributions to Mary Martha Outreach or to Journey Home.
