Steven Mark Hart, 65, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed peacefully from this earth on Friday, December 6, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born in Omaha, Nebraska at Offutt Air Force Base to Kenneth John Hart and Edwina Olivia Boyette. He was born into a military family and lived in numerous places until settling in Hillsdale, Michigan. He graduated from Hillsdale High School in 1972 enlisted in the United States Army. He dedicated a decade of his life to service for his country. He served in Vietnam, and served as an MP in the DMZ in South Korea and in Germany. Steve was a very proud Airborne Ranger and member of the 101st division. He received a National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, an Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and was an Expert Marksman Medal with the rifle. He received his Honorable Discharge as a Staff Sergeant. While stationed stateside in Ft. Knox, Kentucky he met his former spouse, Kim Perkins, and they married in January of 1978. While in Fort Knox, they had their first child, Jennifer Leigh. After which, they were stationed in Ft. Riley, Kansas where they had their youngest, Shannon Kelli.
On September 17th, 2000, Steve married his best friend and love of his life, Sherry Yates Hart. They established their home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. They loved each other so much.The 21 years they had together were the happiest years of his life. During these years he truly lived. They traveled to Las Vegas, Jackson Hole, California and Hawaii. They saw this amazing country that he fought for and loved. They loved to just drive and be together. They shared a common love of music and saw innumerable concerts. The only other times that meant as much to him were those spent surrounded by his daughters and grandchildren. He was a sports fanatic. He was an avid golf player. He enjoyed playing golf with his brother. Michael, every chance he could. No man ever loved the University of Michigan Wolverines more then he did. Go Blue!! He loved his Detroit Lions for better or worse. His family was his world.
He graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelors Degree in Business Management,. He retired as an Investigator for Adult Protective Services with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. He was an honest man that valued truth and integrity in all things he did which is why he served those that no longer could.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth John Hart, his mother, Edwina Olivia Hart Gabrielson, his sister Nancy Lorraine Hart and his sister in law, Pamela Hart.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Sherry Yates Hart, of the home, his daughter and son in law, Jennifer and Michael Morris of Bartlesville and their children, Jackson, Greyson and Elisabeth, his daughter and son in law, Shannon and Joshua Gunter of Bartlesville and their children Sophia and Cece, his brother Michael Hart of Belmont, Michigan, his cousins Kathy and John Proctor of Jonesville, Michigan and his beloved German Shephard, Nikki. As well as countless friends and colleagues.
There will be a private memorial for family followed by a public ceremony in the spring in Hillsdale, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, Steve requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or The Make a Wish Foundation.
