Sylvester Lee Harris

September 10, 1941 ~ November 6, 2006

Memorial service for Sylvester Lee Harris, 65, of Albuquerque, New Mexico will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2006 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home, Chickasha.

Sylvester Lee Harris was born September 10, 1941 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Leron and Opal Harris and died November 6, 2006 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

He was known to his family as Syl and by his friends as S.L. "Butch" Harris. S.L. served in the military from 1957-1961.

He and Barbara Tackitt were married March 20, 1965 in Bethany, Oklahoma.

They moved to Maysville, Oklahoma, and S.L managed Henson Insurance Agency until 1979. He was very active in the Maysville community including 20 years on the Maysville Volunteer Fire Department, Kiwanis Club, and Chamber of Commerce. He worked for St. Paul Fire and Marine from 1979-2001 earning the National Agency Award. S.L. was an Independent Educational Consultant with designations in CIC, CPCU and AMIM, traveling to all 50 states and Puerto Rico. He moved to Arlington, Texas in 1995 then Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2001.

He was preceded in death by: Parents; one sister: Pat Barnett; one brother: L.M. Harris; Infant sister: Gloria Lawanda Harris; Nephew: Billy Ray Harris; Niece: Sharon Denise Harris; Sister-in-law: Rosella "Fatty" Harris.

Survivors include: Wife: Barbara Harris of the home; two sons: Leron Harris and wife Lindy of Bebee, Arkansas; Fred Harris of Maine; six grandchildren; Brothers and sisters: Leroy and Dora Harris of Chickasha; Donal and Omega Glass of Chickasha; Perry and Mary Bond of Verden; Dan Harris of Rush Springs; Clyde Harris of Laverne; Jerry and Jo Harris of Herdon, KS; Hank and Virginia Reifke of Casper, WY; Multitude of nieces and nephews.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
