Sharon Anita "Shannon" (Griggs) Harris

May 10, 1927 ~ Feb. 27, 2006

Funeral services for Shannon Harris will be held in the Basham Funeral Care Chapel (3312 Niles Street) on Saturday afternoon, March 4, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Ron Barker will officiate.

Shannon was born May 10, 1927 in Boswell, Oklahoma to Cecil and Inez Griggs and she passed away on Monday, February 27, 2006 after a short illness.

Shannon is preceded in death by her father, Cecil Griggs; son, Randy Allen Staker; daughter; Rebecca Hatfield and her brother, Pete Duncan.

She is survived by her loving husband, Phil Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Whisler and Lee Lamberson; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Kathleen Staker; mother, Inez Duncan; sisters, Janice Walker, Kay Darling and her husband Rob and Michelle Hatfield; brothers, Carroll Griggs, Chuck Duncan and his wife Sheila, David Duncan and his wife Debbie, Mike Duncan and his wife Jan; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

As a young child, Shannon attended Fort Sill Indian School in Oklahoma before moving to California with her parents in 1942.

Shannon was a long time resident of Bakersfield and Pismo Beach.

Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life. To name people that were special to her would be an impossible task. Shannon loved her family, friends and life itself. She had a smile that would radiate a room with warmth and love.

She was loved by all that knew her and she will be deeply missed.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses of the 3rd and 6th floors of Bakersfield Memorial Hospital.
