Howard L. Harris

January 20, 1938-July 18, 2008

Howard L. Harris, 70, a retired Untied States Air Force Master Sergeant and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, died peacefully Friday, July 18, 2008.

Funeral is set for 9:30 am July 23, 2008 at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery.

Burial immediately following service.

Howard was born January 20, 1938 in Pettigrew, Arkansas. After attending high school in Stilwell, OK., he enlisted in the united States Army serving over seas in the Panama Canal Zone and Germany in both the infantry and artillery. In 1965, he left the Army and enlisted in the United States Air Force as an aircraft maintenance technician. He served three times in Vietnam with other overseas assignments in Korea, Alaska, and Spain with numerous stateside assignments to McConnell AFB, KS., Plattsburgh AFB, NY., Travis AFB, CA., Vanderburg, AFB, CA., Lockland AFB, TX., and Kersler AFB, MS. His military career spanned over 27 years.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; Tom and Desta Eldrodge Harris, brothers; David and Joe Harris, sister; Eula Harris Sullivan.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn A. Harris, daughter, Tonia Ham and husband, David of O'Fallon, IL, sons, Scott and Steren Harris of Hurst, TX, brothers, Ray Harris of Bartlesville, OK., Doyle Harris and wife Julie of Corpus Christi, TX., Richard Harris and wife Rebecca of Ft. Gibson, OK., sisters, Alma Hodge of Dallas, TX., Nina Luce of Winfield, KS., Sue Harris Ball and husband Darrell of Springdale, AR., two sisters-in-law, Ruby and Josie Harris of Stilwell, OK., grandchildren, Kara Harris, brian and Victoria Ham, and a host of nieces and nephews.
