Gregg Earl Harris

Gregg Earl Harris
October 22, 1954 ~ August 3, 2022

Gregg Earl Harris, age 67, passed away on August 3, 2022, in Watonga, OK. He was born to Douglas Earl Harris and Maurine (Mo) Hutchison Harris October 22, 1954, in Valentine, NE.

Gregg grew up in Valentine, Nebraska and attended Valentine High School, where he excelled as a basketball player. He also placed 2nd in bull riding in the Nebraska State High School Rodeo during his junior year. After graduation, Gregg enlisted in the United States Airforce, serving from 1972-1978.

Even though he was raised in town, Gregg developed a passion for horses, cattle, and ranching. He was known for his prowess in shoeing horses and enjoyed roping and rodeo, throughout his life. He worked on several ranches in the Valentine area during his life. Gregg also worked in the construction business, operating draglines and other heavy equipment. He worked for several years in Watonga, Oklahoma and retired there.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doug, and his mother and stepfather, Mo and Mac McCrary, and by his brother, Curtis Harris. He is survived by his brothers, Douglas Blaine (Marge) Harris of Lincoln, NE, Mike (Mary) McCrary and sister, Kim (Perry) Shaul, both of Valentine, NE. He is also survived by daughters, Amy (Todd) Phillips of Stroud, OK, and Michele (Don) Detrick of Moore, OK, grandchildren, Cody Belger, Savannah (Brennan) Fanning, and great grandson, Palmer. Gregg is also survived by his nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives in the Valentine, NE area.
