Benjamin Leroy "Ben" Harris

March 07, 1936 ~ May 04, 2018

Benjamin "Ben" Harris, 82 year old resident of Arnett, OK, passed from this life on May 4, 2018. 

Ben was born March 7, 1936 to Herndon E. and Emma Harris in Carnegie, OK.  He lived south of Carnegie and south of Anadarko until 1944 when the family moved to Oklahoma City.  Ben attended public schools at Oklahoma city which included grade school at Washington Public School, Franklin Junior High, and Central High where he graduated with the class of 1953. 

Ben joined the US army after high school and served the country until 1956, obtaining the rank of Sergeant.  Ben worked an Iron Worker where he built steel buildings until his retirement.  At the age 30 he became a member of the Berean Christian Church in Oklahoma City.  He helped and welcomed visitors to the church, with brother Don and others.  In 2002 Ben moved to Arnett, OK.  Ben loved to study, which included the areas of the Bible, Astronomy, Chemistry, and Physics.  He was a member of the Arnett Senior Center and in the year 2010 he was voted the member of the year.  He helped meals on wheels for Arnett Senior Center.  Ben enjoyed playing pool with all his friends at the Senior Center.  Ben was very happy and proud to be a part of the Arnett Community.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents Herndon and Emma Harris and brother Edwin Harris.

He is survived by his son Christopher Harris of Dell City, OK; four brothers Lewis Harris and wife Jean of Collinsville, OK, Stan Harris and wife Betty of Enid, OK, Don Harris and wife Robyn of Savannah, TX, and Dan Harris and wife Kayoko of Tokyo, Japan; two sisters Ann Burnsed of Shawnee, OK and Mary Billey of Edmond, OK; many nieces nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
