Bob Harrel was born October 5, 1941 to George and Ila Mae (Britton) Harrel and passed from this life on December 11, 2020 with his family by his side. Bob was born and grew up on the family farm Northwest of Leedey, OK. He attended Liberty Center grade school through 8th grade and then Leedey High School, graduating in 1959. Bob went on to attend and graduate from OSU in 1966. He also took additional classes from the University of California at Berkley, as well as flight training in California. Bob was proud to serve his country in the National Guard from 1959 to 1966. Bob loved the Lord and was baptized in Leedey, OK. in June of 1951.

In September of 1959 Bob married Julia Theodore and to this union four children were born, Susan, Butch, Tony and Shannon. Bob moved to California after graduating from OSU in 1966 where he met Joan Davis. They were married in Yreka, CA. on November 29, 1969. To this union one daughter, Sina, was born.

Bob loved his family and community and certainly had a servant’s heart. He lived a life of service to his family, extended family, church, community and land. He served as a lay speaker, trustee and committee member on several committees for the Methodist church. He also enjoyed working as a career forester for both the U.S. and Oklahoma Forestry Services. In later years, he also worked as a logistics manager for the Incident Management Teams under FEMA. Bob enjoyed painting, bottle collecting, hunting, fishing, farming, attending ball games and visiting with everybody he met.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ila Mae Harrel. He is survived by his wife, Joan of the home; daughter Susan Terrell and husband Rick of Pea Ridge, AR.; son Robert Harrel, Jr. (Butch) and wife LeaAnn of Elk City, OK.; son Anthony Harrel (Tony) and wife Nancy of Coleridge, NE.; daughter Shannon Craig and husband, Arthur of Leedey, OK.; and daughter Sina Johnson and husband Ron of Martinez, CA.; two sisters, Susan Haxton and husband Dan and Lily Kendall and husband Mick, all of Leedey, OK.; one brother, Eddie Harrel and wife Janeta of Elk City, OK.; twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was loved so very much by all of his family and friends and will be greatly missed.
