ENID - Roy Harlan passed away Thursday, July 4, 2013, after battling a lengthy illness.
Service for Mr. Harlan will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home, Snyder, Texas. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Roy was born Nov. 4, 1940, to Ralph and Cecil Harlan.
He graduated from Shawnee High School in Shawnee, Okla.
He met and married the love of his life, Sandra Conn, on Feb. 18, 1961. They had two sons, Ricky and Kevin, whom he loved and enjoyed.
Roy began his working career as a diesel mechanic and then went to work in the oil field, when he started working for Cal Nar Pipeline.
His family moved to Snyder, while working for what was then Santa Fe Pipeline, then changed to Chaparral Pipeline, and later was bought and known as Koch Pipeline. While in Snyder he was an active member of the Snyder Volunteer Fire Department and was presented with Fireman of Year award for 1980-1981.
He also was actively involved in his sons activities, steming form Pee Wee Football, Snyder Boy�s Club T-Ball, Farm League Little League, and Pony League Baseball.
After being transferred to Midland, Texas, and then to Medford, Okla., Roy retired with Koch Pipeline.
Roy worked for Walton Construction and then moved to Enid, Okla., to open a yard with Watkins Construction. In June 2012, Roy semi-retired and moved back to Snyder to be close to his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and one brother, Roger.
He is survived by his loving wife and spouse, Sandra Harlan of Snyder, Texas; two sons and their wives, Ricky and Regina Harlan of Snyder and Kevin and Glen Harlan of Lubbock. He also is survived by his grandchildren, Kimberly and Carrie, both of Lubbock, Tara of Snyder, and Ryan and Regan of Lubbock and also by various cousins in Shawnee, Okla.
