Donna Kay Rader Hare, age 80, of Colbert, Oklahoma, entered her Heavenly forever home on November 20, 2023 surrounded by loving family while in Hospice care at TMC in Denison, Texas. She succumbed to complications following a brief illness.
Donna was born January 1, 1943 in Denison, Texas to Fred Rader Jr and Irene Lasiter Rader. Donna was a freckled face, curly haired girl who was independent and stubborn, determined to do things her way. She attended pubic schools in Denison.
Donna married at an early age and gave birth to her only child, a son, Jerry Baker. She was young and her mother was there to help as she learned to care for her baby boy the first few months. Donna adored him and always loved him completely. She was extremely proud of his accomplishments and of the man he became as an adult. Donna worked for several grocery chains as a Deli Clerk and Manager. She enjoyedher regular customers and knew the meaning of customer service. Prior to retirement she worked for Sachse Public Schools in food service at the high school.
Donna married Sidney Elbert Hare on June 30, 1978 in Kaufman, Texas. Sid and Donna shared a great love for one another although it was only a few short years. Sid preceded her in death on March 25, 1989 after being diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
Others preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Kent Rader of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee and Ed Rader of Bella Vista, Arkansas, sister Linda Rader Marlar of Garland, Texas and two infant siblings.She is survived by her son, Jerry Baker and wife Kimberly of Altus, Oklahoma, brothers Ron Rader of
Euless, Texas and Larry Rader of Freeport, Texas, sister Sherry Rader Boehme and husband Bill Boehme of Tyler, Texas.
Also surviving her are two grandsons Brady Baker, his wife Laci Jo and three great grandchildren Jaxton,Kason and Madilyn of Altus, Oklahoma and Tobyn Baker and wife Katie of North Plains, Oregon. She is also survived by sister-in-law’s Mary(Kent), Joyce(Ed), Janice and Jo Anne Rutledge along with several nieces and nephews(and greats) to mourn but also celebrate her life and the love she felt for them.
Donna and niece, Sunny Hill(Larry’s daughter) enjoyed a close loving relationship. At the time of death Donna had moved from Denison to Colbert, Oklahoma, living with Sunny, and Bobby Grove. She also found a church home in Murray Hill Baptist Church where she loved attending when she was able. She said the congregation welcomed her with open arms and she felt like she always belonged there. Donna had a flair for decorating and had fun and satisfaction creating a warm friendly environment. Gardening and flowers were another passion she enjoyed. She could and would cook delicious meals for large groups. She loved people and always had a good story to tell. She will be missed beyond comprehension. Rest in peace and rejoice with those who preceded you. We as a family and your many friends love you forever and will always remember you.
A Celebration of Life for Donna Kay Hare will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning November 22, 2023 at the Murray Hill Baptist Church with Marty Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow in the Blue Ridge Cemetery in Blue Ridge,Texas. Pallbearers will be Garrett Hill, Shay Grove, Kimmy Swindell, Clifford Marlar, Randy Marlar and Matthew Boehme. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Boehme, Jarrett Rutledge and Bobby Grove.
