Hazelton, Kansas – The funeral for Mabel Eva Hardesty, 95, will be 10 AM Tuesday at Community Baptist Church. The Rev. Bradley Daniels will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Fisher Funeral Home of Kiowa, Kansas. Visitation is 3 to 8 PM today and 9 AM to 8 PM Monday.
She was born May 23, 1904, at Nortonville, Kansas, to Charles Louis and Katherine Rose Wormser Hoffman and died Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Comfort Home in Anthony, Kansas.
She married Arthur "A. J. Punk" Hardesty on May 26, 1928, at Medicine Lodge, Kansas.
She was a homemaker, bank clerk and bookkeeper. She retired from Farmers State Bank in 1976. She was a longtime Hazelton resident, moving to Comfort Home in 1998.
She was a member of United Methodist Church of Hazelton until its closure and then a member of UMC of Kiowa. She was a member of United Methodist Women and a lifetime member of OES.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Marie Simon of Rainbow, Texas, and Nancy Jo Barnes of Dodge city, Kansas; one brother, Lester Hoffman of Hazelton; one sister, Edith Major of Wimberley, Texas; six grandchildren; 13 great – grandchildren; and one great – great – grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be made to Owls Senior Citizens Center or donor's choice.
