Douglas Johnston "Dougie" Harbach

February 18, 1914 ~ April 6, 2015

Memorial services for Douglas Johnston "Dougie" Harbach, 101, of Ada will be held at a later date.

Ms. Harbach died Monday, April 6, 2015 at a local nursing home. She was born February 18, 1914 in the Chickasaw White House at Emet, Oklahoma to Langdon and Juanita Johnston Smith. She was the granddaughter of Chickasaw Nation Governor Douglas Johnston. She graduated from Central High School in Oklahoma City. She spent many summers of her youth at the Chickasaw White House and later in life, she and her sister LaNita, donated the Chickasaw White House to the Chickasaw Nation.

In the 1930's, she made her name modeling in New York and later married director William Harbach. Ms. Harbach was a professional model and lived in Tangiers, Morocco from 1971 until returning to Oklahoma in 2013. Survivors include her ex-husband, Bill Harback; a niece and nephew, Megan Wosaba and Bruce Stuart; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Shannon Myers and Gordon Myers.

In lieu of flowers or gifts the family asks for donations to be made in the name of Dougie Harbach to Halo Hospice of Ada, 701 N. Broadway, Ada, OK 74820.
