Adell Hankins, born Feb. 14, 1924, went to be with Jesus on July 20, in San Antonio, TX, after a brief illness.
The 60-year resident of the Dewey-Bartlesville area moved with her husband to San Antonio three years ago to be near their daughter. Adell was a member of the Dewey Christian Church and East Bartlesville Christian Church, Dewey Garden Club and Lion Tamer's Club.
As a Registered Nurse, she worked as school nurse for Dewey schools, a surgical and medical nurse at the former Washington Co. Memorial Hospital, head nurse for Forest Manor Nursing Homes, and, finally, for the State of Oklahoma until her retirement in 1987.
A memorial service was held at Fellowship Bible Church on July 24, followed by a graveside service at Fort Sam Houston Military Cemetery.
Adell is survived by her husband, Charles; their daughter, Susan, and her husband, Mark Smith; two grandsons: Jeff Smith and his wife, Jennifer, and Peter Smith and his wife, Melissa; and four great-grandchildren: Hank, Elliott, Jon Mark and Olivia; and a step great-grandson, Oliver.
