Larry Patrick Haney, Sr

Larry Patrick Haney, Sr
May 13, 1944 ~ June 17, 2023

Larry Patrick Haney, Sr was born May 13, 1944 in Wichita Falls, Texas to RD Addison Haney and Alta Mae (Patrick) Haney. He passed away June 17, 2023 in Wellston at the age of 79.

Larry was a self-described handful of a boy growing up constantly getting into shenanigans. Being the youngest of 9 children, he got away with quite a bit, quite often. He spent most of his childhood in Petrolia, Texas but graduated from Fox High School in Oklahoma with the class of 1962. He married his high school sweetheart Joyce, and they were married almost 60 years until her passing in 2022. Larry was an incredibly dedicated and hard-working husband, dad, and friend.

The bulk of his working career was dedicated to Fred Jones Ford in Oklahoma City for 35 years as the parts manager. He enjoyed his career and while he made a few friends along the way, his passionate hobby was showing his horses as an avid member of the NCHA (National Cutting Horse Association.) His favorite accomplishment from his passion was show on his prized show horse, Felina Boy. Though he held his passion close to his heart, his even bigger passion of spending time with his 2 grandsons.

He was a family man, but his greatest joy was being “Papa.” Larry was a private man, but made his opinion known when necessary and was what you call a “straight shooter.” His outspoken personality and take no bull attitude were admirable yet respected. Larry tried to be, and was, as good a man as he could be and was loved so dearly. Those who knew him on a personal lever knew him well, and he will be very missed.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Joyce, his parents, RD Addison Haney and Alta Mae (Patrick) Haney, as well as 8 siblings, Patsy Jackson, Wanda Haney, Dorothy Marsee, Billye Patterson, Jack, Junior, Robert and Albert J.W. Haney.

Survivors include his children, Larry Haney, Jr and wife, Angie of Wellston, Lani and husband Justin Kozicki of Norman; grandsons, Dakota Haney, Carter Jack; along with other family and friends.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
