Fredrick B. Hammert passed away on December 14, 2008.
He was born on October 27, 1935, to Walter and Elizabeth Hammert in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
He attended Anadarko schools and after graduation enrolled at the University of Oklahoma. While there, he began his long affiliation with Delta Chi fraternity, serving as president of their educational foundation for 10 years.
He and Marian became New Founders of Delta Chi, and Fred was awarded the Order of the White Carnation.
Fred worked in the food industry for most of his career, retiring from Fleming/Damon in 2003.
He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Marian; his daughter, Lisa (Jeff); two brothers, Walter (Dorothy) Hammert and Carl (Lynn) Hammert; and many loving family members and friends.
Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, December 17, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 18th, at 11:00 a.m. at Central Lutheran Church, 1000 Easton Road, Dallas, TX 75218.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Delta Chi Educational Foundation, P.O. Box 383, Colombus, IN, 47202.
