Virginia Elnora Ham 86, of Dewey, Oklahoma, passed away in the home of her daughter on April 1, 2018. The family will hold a private memorial at a future time.
Virginia was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, June 15, 1931 to William Luther Mills and Lucy Anna Mills. She went to school in Maud, Oklahoma, where she met her husband, Thomas Junior Ham. They were married in June of 1947 and made their home in Maud until her husband got a job with Phillips Petroleum Company. Their only child, Cathy Ann was born in Maud May 2, 1948. They moved to Borger, TX and later Kansas City and finally Bartlesville, OK with Phillips Petroleum. In 1956 they moved to Dewey, and she began working as a waitress at the Holiday Inn and later advanced to bookkeeper. She retired in approximately 1982.
When her husband retired in 1985, they began to travel. After traveling all over the USA, they went nine times to western and eastern Europe for vacations. They loved history and enjoyed sightseeing, museums and art galleries. Other than her grandkids, reading was her passion, but they always loved sports and were avid OU fans.
Virginia was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. They always attended events of their daughter and grandchildren, and some of the great-grandchildren. They were fully involved in all of the lives of their family and loved knowing the kid's friends.
She is survived by daughter, Cathy and Brent Baughman of Bartlesville, OK; grandson, Lance and Leah Vermeire of Miles City, MT; granddaughter, Kari and Clay Cunningham, Gore, OK; great-grandkids, Charlie Ann, Thomas, Cole, Ranger, and Stryker Vermeire of Miles City, MT; Trenton, Weston and Audra Cunningham of Gore, OK; brother, Larry and Bonnie Mills of Mamou, LA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Ham; parents, William and Lucy Anna Mills; two brothers, Billy and Jack Mills.
