Ruth (Stevens) Hallum

 January 17, 1913 ~ September 1, 2008

Memorial services for Ruth Stevens Hallum, 95, of Marietta, will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 6, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel. An interment service will be conducted at a later date as in her generous spirit it was her wish that her body be donated to medical science education.

Born January 17, 1913, in Wise County, Texas, the youngest of eight children of Walter Benjamin and Sarah Elizabeth Tabner Stevens, she died Monday, September 1, 2008, in the Lake Country Nursing Center, Marietta.

A resident of the Enville community most of her life, Mrs. Hallum attended school at Batson. She and Artis Jefferson Hallum were married August 7, 1937, in Gainesville, Texas, and he preceded her in death on January 10, 1980. Mrs. Hallum was employed as a cook at the Love County Health Center in Marietta for many years and was also very well known for her cake decorating skills.

Survivors include a son, Rayford Hallum of Enville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Viola and Buddy Coble of Sherman, Texas and Linda and Bob Schwarz of Broken Arrow; stepdaughters, Jessie Black and husband, David of Burneyville; stepdaughter-in-law, Mary Lou Hallum of Rubottom; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, June Hallum; two stepsons, Clayton Hallum and David Hallum; stepdaughter-in-law, Faye Hallum; five brothers, Floyd Stevens, Dennis Stevens, Sherman Stevens, Gilmer Stevens and Vincent Stevens; two sisters, Ollie Phillips and Trudy Mason; two sisters-in-law, Mattie Stevens and Minnie Stevens; and two brothers-in-law, Oscar Phillips and Paul Mason.
