Andrew Hair

Andrew Hair
May 11, 1959 ~ March 4, 2025

Andrew Hair, 65, of Salina, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in Pryor, Oklahoma. He was born on May 11, 1959, in Claremore to Todum Hair and Annie (Peters) Hair. Andrew spent most of his life working in construction, including time with the Cherokee Nation Housing Authority and various other companies. He was known for his quick wit, sharp mind, and a sense of humor that could make anyone smile. Always a bit ornery, he had a knack for knowing random facts about nearly everything. A fluent Cherokee speaker, Andrew, carried his language and heritage with pride. He loved fishing, working as a mechanic, and spending time in the creeks hunting crawdads. He was an avid wrestling fan known as “The Professor” and gave his advice to many wrestlers. He also had a huge love for music. As an actor, he played roles in different movies, as well as a PBS miniseries “We Shall Remain” and a few others. He also enjoyed going to the casino and sharing stories, always ready with a joke or a clever remark. He loved spending time with his great nephews as they were significant in his life, and he loved watching their games. Andrew’s presence will be deeply missed, but his laughter, wisdom, and love for life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Andrew is survived by his step-son, Burton Bark of Leach, and step-daughter, Lila Bark of Leach, OK; brother, Andy Hair of Salina, OK; sisters, Anita Childers of West Siloam Springs, AR, Juanita Bark of Salina, OK, Sandra Hair of Salina, OK, and Ann Matlock of Westville, OK; as well as many nieces and nephews, along with a host of other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Todum Hair and Annie Hair; brothers, Earl Hair and Richard Chewey; niece, Talitha Turner; and nephew, Todd Bark.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Blue Springs Church in Salina with Reverend Lorne Beck officiating. Douglas Carroll, Erick Bark, Jamie Parker, Duane Bark, James Hair, and Walus Hair will serve as casket bearers. The honorary casket bearers will include John Childers, Jacob Hair, David Turner, Gilbert Mouse, and Johnny Dry. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2025, at Shipman’s Funeral Home in Pryor. To leave his family a message, please visit his Tribute Wall at www.shipmansfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman’s Funeral & Cremation Service.
