Billye LaVerne (Oliver) Hainen

Billye LaVerne (Oliver) Hainen
April 14, 1925 ~ August 31, 2015

A memorial service for Mrs. Billye Hainen, aged 90 years, and a resident of Hugo, will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015, at 10:00 am at First Presbyterian Church, located at 219 E. Jackson Street, Hugo, OK 74743.

Billye LaVerne Oliver was born April 14, 1925, in Amory, Mississippi, to Kelly and Willye (Long) Oliver. She was a graduate of DeQueen (Ark.) High School and Henderson State University. She worked for the Connecticut and Texas Departments of Health during and after World War II. On February 22, 1948, she married John Hainen.

Mrs. Hainen was an avid fisherman and a long-time member of the "Hawg Hookers" ladies bass club. She also enjoyed painting and woodworking. At age 89, she made her first "hole in one" on No. 8 at o'clock Creek Golf Course, and jokingly quipped, "It only took me 60 years of golfing to do that!" Upon Mr. Hainen's retirement from his law practice, they traveled around the country extensively.

Preceding her in death were: her husband, John, in 2008; her son, Rob, in 2004; and her brother, Kelly, Jr., in 1998.

Surviving relatives include: one daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Mike Brewer; one daughter-in-law: Leah Hainen; four grandchildren: Ryan and Heather Hainen, Randy and Jenny Hainen, Courtney and Wade Awtry and John Michael Brewer; six great-grandchildren: Lilly and Penny Hainen, Adam and Robb Hainen, and Garrett, Sydney and Grady Awtry; one sister-in-law: Carley Oliver; and two nephews: Mark and Ceci Oliver and Rush and Brenda Oliver.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memoriums be made to First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 26, Hugo, OK 74743 or to St. Jude Children's Research Center.

Services are under the direction of Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home of Hugo, OK.
