Forrest "Frosty" Dean Hacker, age 64, of Chandler, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Frosty was born February 8, 1948 in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Raymond D. Hacker, Sr. and Marilyn Ferol Hacker.
An Eagle Scout, Frosty graduated from Ulysses, Kansas High School in 1966.
He served his country in the U.S. Army, as a helicopter mechanic in Korea, Germany and Ft. Knox, Kentucky before settling down in Oklahoma.
He has lived in Chandler since 1991, when he bought his special place in the country and lived there until his death.
He was married to Terry Pooser, who, due to cancer, preceded him in death in 1992. Preston Pooser of Woodstock, Georgia is a step-son of Frosty from that marriage.
On February 5, 1994 Frosty married Leslie Brown-Hacker of Stillwater, Oklahoma.
He worked in Stillwater at the Mercury Marine Plant as a mechanic until his retirement in 2011.
Frosty was a kind, patient, fun loving and generous man who was as patriotic as he was ornery. He enjoyed being at his home in the country and loved his pets and all animals dearly. He had a profound appreciation for Native American Art.
He enjoyed going to the State Fair of Oklahoma, listening to classic rock, and watching the Phoenix Cardinals and University of Kansas Jayhawks play football. Frosty was never happier than when he was on a long walk through the woods with his dogs.
He loved the first snowfall of the season because it was the "best walk of the year."
He is survived by his wife Leslie; three more step-children, Thomas Brown of Chicago, Illinois, Genevieve Brown of Norman, Oklahoma and Steven Brown of Stillwater, Oklahoma; brothers, Clifford "Butch" Hacker and wife Linda of Emporia, Kansas, Chuck Hacker and wife Evelyn of Ulysses, Kansas and Justin Hacker of Nashville, Tennessee; a sister, Mary Ann Grimes and husband Roger of Amarillo, Texas; step-mother, Anne Hacker of Stillwater, Oklahoma and step-mother Maria Hacker. He is also survived by eight step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marilyn Black on February 6, 2012 and Raymond D. Hacker Sr. on April 20, 2012 and oldest brother, Raymond Hacker Jr.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater and will be held on Friday, September 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at 516 W. Third St in Stillwater.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Oklahoma Indian Child Welfare Association {OICWA.org} P.O. Box 1274, Shawnee, Oklahoma 74802-1274 or St. Jude's Children Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or any Animal Shelter. Frosty was deeply concerned about children and animals not being cared for.
